It's More to Jamaica then Coconut and Rum

The film Life and Dept talks about the ugly part of Jamaica that tourists do not see. The ugly part of Jamaica that tourists fail to see. Media only portrays the pretty beaches, mountains, songs, dancehall, and great food. The media fail to portray Jamaica as poverty, corrupt, and basically as modern day slavery. Jamaica may have their independence but they are not free. Globalization is the central control over Jamaica. Jamaica is still passively controlled by outside countries although they do not have a government. It is funny to think that tourists do not get a chance to see harm they are causing to the country, then they decide to vacation in Jamaica. Coconuts and Rum are the only worries of Tourists.
No Telephone to Heaven describes Jamaica at its purists form. Jamaica is viewed as a helpless overlooked island. The title of this book implies Jamaica is in so much bad shape that God even fails to help them. Jamaica can’t even get any love from God and he doesn’t hear their prayers although they are constantly praying.
Jamaica is described as dangerous and corrupt. Human bodies are unimportant to the people in Jamaica. No one is protected by the government. There is a lot of interracial prejudice on the island. Spirituality is very important to the island, although the first half of the book and the title hints that God overlooks the island just like everyone else. The island is portrayed as helpless.
