To be very honest I was sort of confused y the very beginning of this book. I could see where the book tried to display the influence of America on Jamaica. The author showed that American influence in Jamaica caused Jamaicans to lose touch with their culture and try to assimilate to American ideals. I lost track of what was going on because I do not think I have enough background information on the story's original purpose. I am unfamiliar with Jamaica and American interaction as well as the loan system they were placed under.
